Explore Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is the core scenic spot of Zhangjiajie and a must-see on your China tours. You can first visit the Yellow Stone Fortress and enjoy its beautiful scenery. Then go to Golden Whip Stream, a 7.5-kilometer-long stream lined with lush trees and clear water, which is a paradise for photographers. In the afternoon, you can visit Yuanjiajie, one of the setting of Avatar, where you can find the prototype of the levitating mountain in the movie.

Visit Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park

Take the world’s longest Tianmen Mountain cableway, which is 7,455 meters long and the highest point is 1,279 meters above the ground. Along the way, you will overlook the deep canyons and precipitous peaks, feeling the majesty and magnificence of nature.

Challenge the glass trestle on Tianmen Mountain, which is a transparent glass walkway built on the cliff face. Stand on the glass walkway overlooking the deep canyon for an exciting experience.

Cultural Experience

You can visit Ancient Town of Fenghuang, which preserves the architectural style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Ancient Town of Fenghuang becomes even more enchanting at night. Take a leisurely stroll through its streets and alleys to immerse yourself in its historical ambiance.

Also travel to Xiangxi Folk Culture Village, where you can deeply experience the rich Tujia and Miao culture in the western Hunan region. Learn about traditional ethnic culture, such as silver jewelry making of the Miao and brocade art of the Tujia. You can also taste the authentic Xiangxi cuisine.

Transportation

Zhangjiajie boasts its own airport and train station, offering direct flights and trains from major cities both domestically and internationally. Upon arrival, it is advisable to proceed directly to your pre-booked hotel for a brief rest before embarking on your exploration of Zhangjiajie.

Zhangjiajie Lotus Airport is located about 10 kilometers from the city and offers domestic flights to major cities as well as some international flights. Zhangjiajie Railway Station, on the other hand, is conveniently connected to cities such as Changsha, Wuhan and Guangzhou by high-speed and ordinary trains.

When walking in the scenic area, please follow the guide’s instructions and do not climb or wade in the water alone. Please do not litter in the scenic area and do not damage the vegetation. Keep a distance from animals and do not harass them.

The mountain trails in Zhangjiajie are quite steep, therefore, it is advisable to familiarize yourself with the features and distances of each attraction beforehand and plan an appropriate itinerary.
